Homi — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 6 September 2026  ·  Last updated: 6 September 2026

1. Who we are

Homi (“Homi”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps people who share a household track expenses, manage a shared shopping list, and understand their spending. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The data controller is Abdelrahman Harraz. You can reach us at harraz35.dev@gmail.com.

2.2 Data collected automatically

NetworkYour IP address is transiently visible to our backend when the app makes API requests. We do not use it for tracking or advertising.

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use your data

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your financial data, receipts, or voice recordings for advertising or profiling.

Legal bases (where GDPR or similar law applies)

4. Data shared within your household

Homi is a shared app. Every current member of a household can see all of that household's transactions, receipt images, item-level details, shopping list, and insights, including entries created by other members. Only join a household with people you trust with this information. Removing a member from a household is handled by contacting us; leaving a household ends your access to its data going forward but does not retroactively hide entries you created from remaining members.

5. AI processing

To convert receipts and voice recordings into draft expenses, we send the receipt image or the voice audio to Google's Gemini API.

6. Service providers (subprocessors)

ProviderPurposeProcessing location
SupabaseApplication backend: database, file storage, authentication, and server functionsEuropean Union (Ireland, eu-west-1)
Google LLC (Gemini API)AI extraction of receipt images and voice recordingsUnited States and other Google regions
ResendDelivery of transactional emailUnited States

These providers process data only on our instructions and under their own data protection commitments. Where data is transferred outside your region (for example to the United States for AI processing or email delivery), that transfer relies on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

7. Data retention

8. Deleting your data

You can delete your account from within the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile and, where you are the last member of a household, that household's transactions, receipts, and shopping items. This action cannot be undone. You may also email harraz35.dev@gmail.com to request deletion.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Many of these are available directly in the app; for anything else, contact harraz35.dev@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Security

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where required by law.

11. Children

Homi is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact harraz35.dev@gmail.com and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
